THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF GOMBE STATE, ALHAJI IBRAHIM HASSAN DANKWAMBO, OON TALBAN GOMBE
Gombe is a forward looking state with significant economic reasources and excellent mineral resources potentials. Created on October 1 1996 out of the former Bauchi State. It is located in the north eastern zone, right within the expansive savannah region and shares a common boundary with the states of Borno, Taraba, Adamamwa and Bauchi.
Gombe State has an area 20,265 Square Kilometers with a population 2.4 Million with its Capital in Gombe. Other major cities include Dukku, Billiri, Bajoga and Kaltungo. Gombe State has various ethnic groups like Tangale, Terawa, Waja, Kumo, Fulani, Kanuri, Bolewa, Jukun, Pero/Shonge, Tula, Cham, Lunguda, Dadiya, Banbuka , Hausa and Kamo/Awak among others.
Gombe has two distinct climates, the dry season (November-March) and the rainy season (April-October) with an average rainfall of 850mm.
The State is headed by the Executive Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and 24 State House Assembly members. Gombe has 11 Local Government Areas and 14 Emirates /chiefdoms. It has 3 Senators and 6 Members in the National Assembly.
The present administration in the State is providing the critical leadership needed to maximize these opportunities under an enabling environment created by government and the empowerment of the people to participate in productive ventures. Government continues to work to create the right conditions for competition, liberalization, openness and accountability, core values which will sustain the prosperity of our people and communities.
The Gongola River transverses the State watering most of the Northern and North Eastern part of the State before emptying into the River Benue at Numan. The State is peaceful and therefore provides a haven for investors.
